P20 Pro debuted back in March, meaning the device is almost a year old at this point.
The Chinese flagship pioneered the idea of handsets arriving with three cameras on their rear.
P20 Pro arrived with a 40-megapixel main sensor that was accompanied by a 20-megapixel monochrome unit and an 8-megapixel telephoto system.
Aside from its camera array, the Huawei handset remains a capable Android offering thanks to its huge 4,000mAh battery, fast processor and gorgeous display.
However, it appears the P20 Pro will soon be rivalled by a new flagship from Xiaomi set to debut at Mobile World Congress (MWC) on February 24.
Dubbed the Mi 9, the flagship looks set to come with three sensors on its rear that could trump the P20 Pro’s photography offering.
Ahead of its full debut, Xiaomi has detailed a number of features about the forthcoming device on Twitter.
The firm has declared the Mi 9 will come with a 48-megapixel main sensor that will be joined by a 16-megapixel wide-angle system and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens.
Moreover, the Chinese tech giant has stated the Mi 9 will tout a laser autofocus.
Such a tool should allow the flagship to focus in faster and more accurately.
Images of the Mi 9 have appeared prominently on Xiaomi’s Twitter page and have displayed the phone with an all-screen design.
A small notch is present at the top of the device.
Xiaomi has already confirmed the panel itself will be from Samsung and offer a 1080p resolution.
The Chinese tech giant has declared the Mi 9 will boast a 90.7 percent screen-to-body ratio.
The Mi 9 has been shown in three colours; lavender violet, ocean blue, and piano black.
All three appear to be gradient finishes, meaning the colour displayed will change slightly depending on the angle light is striking it.
However, it appears a Transparent Edition of the handset will also be sold.
The founder of Xiaomi, Lei Jun, recently took to Weibo and announced the variant.
Most notably, it was said the handset will arrive with a whopping 12GB of RAM.
It is unknown if all models of the Mi 9 will come with the same amount of RAM.
It has been rumoured the Mi 9 will be powered by a Snapdragon 855 processor and have a 3,500mAh battery.
While the Chinese tech giant has already announced a swathe of information about the Mi 9, it is expected all remaining details will be discussed on February 24.
